Pipeline track

Monday 31 December 2012

The pipeline track series was started November 2011 and, apart from a quick search for a few at the start, we had not got stuck into them. The best way we reckoned was to take the bikes, which had not been ridden for about 2 years, so they were dusted off and away we went. Things did not go as planned because we could not find the first one, nor the next one previously unfound. But after that finding them didn't prove too hard, but on the return ride Peter discovered his front tyre rapidly went down. The repair kit was opened but all that remained in the glue tube was air.

An attempt to replace the tube failed because Peter did not have the strength to unbolt the nuts with his small shifter.

Rather than push the bike the 6 kilometres back he decided to ride the bike and put up with the consequences.

The tally for the day was 25; easily our most for one day. We enjoyed the pipeline series and will go back for the one at

Wellington Falls and put in a new PTPT cache. And also to search for the one we overlooked including on the GPS and who knows there may be another one or two put in by then.

PTPT Wallaby

After not finding this the previous visit it was quite frustrating to not find it again today, especially as everyone else seems to find it OK. After returning home we suspect that we should have looked a bit closer at the spot we thought it must be at.

PTPT Tiger Snake

This was the second attempt and Peter concentrated on the top side as he had looked previously on the lower.

However still no joy even with a second search on the return leg today.

. . .and Snuva’s sensational

Called in to this cache after the Pipeline series (PTPT). Had no trouble finding it but returning the container was somewhat harder. Two muggle girls turned up and settled in for a while. When neither was near the hide spot we pounced and while Sue stood to block the view Peter quickly replaced it.

PTPT Dry Wattle

Appreciated the not too difficult hide. Managed to reach it OK, easier from one side than the other

PTPT Round the Bend

PTPT Warning

PTPT Echidna

PTPT Dark and Gloomy

Took us a little longer to locate and had to check back on the hint a couple of times.
