Up the Derwent valley Again
Saturday , 29 March 2014
It was a predicted fine day and although quite cloudy and misty in Hobart it became sunnier as we drove west. The plan was to get a few caches on the way, do the Lady Barron Falls circuit and then the remainder of the caches on the eastern side of the Derwent on the way back.
Spotted by Sue quite quickly and handed to Peter to open as there were lots of ants about. The old kilns were quite an interesting historical feature. It was where suspected and not at the spot that the GPS was pointing to. This was just so easy to find; it was lying on the ground at GZ. The only effort was getting it back to the rightful place. This could be a difficult spot to get to when the blackberry and other weeds grow a bit.Handy having two GPS units as one was 20 metres out but the other much closer; still the hint made it easy. Took a TB

GPS pointed about 10 metres away, but Sue's geonose took her straight to the hide.Derwent Valley Trail #9 Field Views
Quick find by Sue.Derwent Valley Trail #10 Wellington range views
Took a while before Sue noticed the hide when she got to the right angle. A nifty one and we hope it survives the gales. Saturday, 29 March 2014 Page 1 of 2 Under there said Sue, and it was. Took the path and enjoyed the views over the Derwent River. Have seen this spot from the car many times and this is where we imagined the cache would be from the name.Derwent Valley Trail #11 Shooters Hill Oast House
A quick find once at GZ. We had imagined this might be near at another oast house though we couldn't see that one further on and maybe it got burnt down. Quick find , in this case by Peter who just happened to look at the right spot on arrival. It was good to see the old stone road bridge; quite a substantial structure. Sue had this one before Peter could even get out of the car. Spotted quickly by Peter who noticed the variation. Saturday, 29 March 2014 Page 2 of 2
