Down to South Arm

Thursday , 21 January 2016
It had been several months since we had been out for a day caching and we chose South Arm as the venue. Peter thought to view the Australian geocaching site and this added a few extras to look for.
With the Australian caches, for some reason the option to download the cache data to the Garmin GPS no longer works, but even when downloading the GPX file, and copying to the GPS, it doesn’t dhow as a geocache when searching.  So the only option was to record it as a waypoint.
GREAT BALLS OF ???
Stopped but when we saw the rubbish, including toilet paper, we soon lost interest.
Racecourse Flats
Was just too hard to open, so a photo has been added in lieu of logging.

Seven ZL/R Radio Mast ST466
Stopped at a spot roughly as close as we could get to.
Billy's Bluff - the views
The old log  bag was very wet so we removed it and dried the container insides.  A good view from here.
2014 Amongst the Fir Trees
Looked at the spot the GPS indicated and poked about but without success.
Potter's A-Maze-ing View
Wei imagined that this would be very close to the maze, so were surprised when the GPS showed a bit of distance still to go.
South Arm ST637
Surprised that it was the middle of the maze as we imagined a biggish marker pole.
Be Inspired
We parked at the start as per the coords, which was the Frances Cleaver Entrance  and reached the pole and after the set distance it was a quick find by Sue who spotted the container.
Inspired
As we had just done the cache Be Inspired we decided to walk along the beach to the pole and we knew the coords for WP1  a calculation brought us to the right distance and any way Sue had spotted the hint object well before getting there..  It was very bright on the beach so the inland path was taken back to the car.
On driving past we did note that the entrance name was different at the published start point.
Where's Bob
Sue spotted the opening.  Not a very quiet spot here.
ACADEMIC VIEW
We parked beside the road at a wide space and walked along the shore only to find a stream would have to crossed.  As it would have been quite wetting to get over we backtracked a short distance to use the bridge.
Unknown Reserve
We were not overly hopeful about finding this after the reading the Mynel & Daisy log. A suspect spot proved  looked to have a small paper log but it was a natural item.  Then something else was noticed a little higher, but no matter how hard we tried there was no budging it.
It was so clearly something that only a human could put there, so we are claiming a find, unlees we discover it was a red herring.  A photo is attached, which in due course can be removed depending on the feedback from stainless-steel- rat.
