Highlands Bushwalking Trip
Tuesday , 12 April 2016
We were making the most of a good weather forecast and going to spend a few days bushwalking near Lake
StClair and collected a few caches on the journey there and back.
Rufus Mt ST650Shadow Lake and Mount Rufus |
Did the circuit walk from Shadow Lake; a fabulous walk in lovely weather.
Tassies Belly Button Trig Point (ISA Monument
Bronte) ST715
With GC cache close by it seemed a good idea to do this monumnet.

As there was a GC cache here we decided that we might as well get this trig as well.
Bronte Lagoon Area ST543
Collected on way from Bronte village.
Lawrenny
We found this cache on our way to Lake St Clair area for a couple of days. Although we have driven this road many
times we have never noticed this grand old house, Lawrenny. TFTC ausandaus2
'Knock knock' - 'Ouse
there'
On our way to Lake St Clair for a couple of days, unfortunately had no luck finding this cache. Checked out a few nosey
looking rocks but didn't have the urge to go into elimination mode. TFTC
My Old School
On our way to Lake St Clair for a couple of days and enjoyed the short detour. Nicely kept little town with a number of
tourists wandering about. The cache was a quick find and where we expected. TFTC Budgietas

On our way to Lake St Clair for a couple of days in the area. We detoured to do the three caches in the Brady's Lake
area and enjoyed the drive never having been here before. From other logs we expected the cache to be 15 mts out but not
knowing in which direction we had to scout about a bit. We were a bit surprised to find cache with broken glass on big rock as
well as around it.. Be careful if looking with young children. Took TB TFTC willberech
Oh HEC. Brady's Chain - Link 2
On our way to Lake St Clair area for a couple of days. After collecting Link3 we continued to Link 2, this was a nice
quick find. TFTC willberech
We were on our way to the Lake St Clair area for a couple of days. After finding Link 3 and Link 2 we continued
around Bradys Lake to search for Link 1. We were amazed at all the shacks around the lake, we had never detoured from the
Lyell Highway on previous trips. We found the search for this cache very frustrating, we knew it was supposedly 20 mts out but
which way. Well we thought magnetic must be on a sign or the bridge so we headed that way until we were approx 20 mts
from the stated co ords. After a long search we gave up. TFTC willberech
Tassie's Belly Button
On our way to Lake St Clair for a couple of days and stopped for this easy to find cache. The cache was in the open and
container unclipped so we left it in better condition than we had found it. TFTC polfil
1st Bridge
Leaving Lake St Clair after a couple of days in the area. Parked the car one side of the bridge and dodged a few caravans
before finding the cache, then spotted an easier return. TFTC Gekko 1

Werners Cache
Detoured on the way home from a couple of days in the Lake St Clair area. We had a bit of a hunt around and found
the cache without much trouble. Thanks for the history of the area, we were surprised at all the houses and shacks at Bronte.

After a couple of days in the Lake St Clair area we decided to return home along the Victoria Valley Road. We enjoyed
the drive to this cache and thought it was a great hide with an impressive entrance. It was a cloudy, misty day so the views were
not as good as we would have liked. TFTC thekingjw
Oh HEC!!
After a couple of days in the Lake St Clair area we returned via the Victoria Valley Road. We enjoyed the drive to Lake
Echo as we hadn't been before. The cache was where we expected and hopefully will stay put, the magnet does not appear very
strong. TFTC willberech.
