South Island New Zealand

March 2017
Whilst travelling on the South Island of New Zealand we stopped to look for a few caches when time allowed. After a day of rain followed by constant heavy falls at night we  weren't expecting to be looking for any in Abel Tasman NP, but it cleared up nicely. Then at the glacier area it likewise was great weather, but in the 22 years since we last in New Zealand they have shrunk a huge distance. After a day of delightful walking to Roby Roy valley we had a short travel day and had time to search for some caches at Wanaka and Queenstown.  Both towns are trendy and noisy, but the thing that stunned us the most was the person with what looked like a pusher for kids, but was in fact for dogs and there was one in it.
Doubtful Sound was amazing as was the efficiency of the travel operator especially given the mind boggling logistics of running it.  A day on the Kepler brought us past a number of caches which was a bonus.

Great Scott! (Central Otago)
Nice hiding spot
Path to #thatwanakatree (Wanaka)
A bit of a hunt for us from Hobart in Tasmania.
Wanaka Station Reserve (Otago)
Quite an interesting historical site.
80/20 (Southland)
Some info in a guide book brought us here and the geocaches were a bonus.
Great cache name that was a big help and took us straight there.
Andersons Park - Behind the Stump (Invercargill)
Some info in a guide book brought us here and the geocaches were a bonus.

Found easily enough
Near the End of the Road (Southland)
Hint and cords spot on.
Ngarata (Nelson/Marlborough)
Found once we ventured far enough around.
Pinus radiata (Southland)
More like knee height,  took a while to work out the closest track to use.
Remarkable View (Central Otago)
Looked for likely hide and fortunately one was located  as we would have given up quickly

Shearing Board (Nelson/Marlborough)
sounded hard and lots of DNFs
Take a break at Edgewater
Sue spotted it from the opposite bank
Thomsons Bush (Southland)
Quick thanks to hint
Wanaka For Sure (Otago)

Fiordland Takeaways
Second try when no people about.
Pull Your Boots On ( Fiordland )
When we finally worked out how best to get to the site we left at the same time as a fishing enthusiast and ending up walking past the cache.  He must have wondered what we meant when we said we had gone too far and said goodbye.
In a pickle (Fiordland)
This was at least easy to find.
Trapped in the Kepler
The hiding spot was easy to find.

Back to my roots
Saw the matching location, but had to hunt in a couple of likely spots..
Fallen Giant
Noticed the described location
Dock Bay
Managed this without a problem.
