A Bike Ride

23/04/2013

We had been contemplating going on a bike ride from New Town into the city to collect the HBT series and today was it. It was school holidays and also close to lunch time, so the bike track has a lot of muggles, including council and services maintenance workers.

HBT Under the Bridge

A cyclist stopped to ask what we doing, and was told the answer; well what else can you say?

HBT Wall

Spent a lot of time looking whilst heading to town and even looked at objects that were eventually found to match the hiding cover. What threw us was the supposed 'give away' sign, because we saw what could be it and searched there, then gave up and continued on our way. However on the return ride we spotted what at first looked to be the sign, then perhaps wasn't as it was so faint. But it was and then the remainder of the hint items were revealed.

HBT Stormy Welcome

At last an easy find for the day.

HBT Crossing

Sue soon spotted this one. Actually the photo in the log on 1 April was a little too helpful and made the job pretty easy.

Peter walked past but Sue following after spotted what he missed. TFTC AINSTAR, scottymyth

Finally back to try again. There was a lot of workers looking at a hole in the ground, but fortunately parked vehicles blocked the view of GZ. Before going we checked the tide charts and hurricane warnings and to see if fish were running to minimise any fishers being there. All came up favourable and we had free use of the jetty. After our previous unsuccessful attempt Makky offered a clue which indicated we were on the right track but didn't try hard enough.
