Catchpole Gully

A couple of years ago we went for a walk in the hills above Risdon Brook and returned past the cache "School Of Rock" in which we found the first waypoint. It was on our agenda for today on what was quite an enjoyable walk, with lots of wallaby scooting about and stacks of little holes dug in the sandy soil; probably from bandicoots. On that initial occasion we didn't know realise the GPS had an "enter next stage" function so left it for another day; it was just as well because we now know it would have directed us back the way we had just walked down from.

School Of Rock: Cheat Sheet

After re-finding the first waypoint we were a little confused by the two very faint instructions in the container, although the coords were clear to see. We put one of Peter's GPS and the other in Sue's so that covered all bases. Anyway we soon passed waypoint 2 and proceeded to waypoint 3 although by a higher track than we should have. On top of some cliffs near a fence line we realised we would have to descend. We did think that it wouldn't have been surprise if the following waypoint was back up on these cliffs; but it wasn't. Waypoint 3 fitted the hint and was where the GPS took us and a quick find and so on to waypoint 4. This was bit of a small climb and was soon found by Sue, after Peter had already looked at the spot but didn't look thoroughly enough. What a surprise waypoint 4 proved to be.

Bridging the Gap

As we walked along the path we saw two muggles not far from GZ; one was wielding an axe with which he was attacking some tree trunks. The GZ itself also had piles of slash and tree cuttings surrounded it. Anyway the GPS, the cache description and clue matched exactly to the cache we found. The muggles about there was not time to inspect the contents and log much and Peter had to keep a low profile to avoid being seen. There is supposed to be a GC cache at the same spot "Kiddie Cache" which we could not find and we also think that several who log this one may have actually mistaken it for the GCA one.

Kiddie Cache

We had this cache and the Australian one that was at much the same location in the GPS's. We did find what we believe the be the GCA one "Bridging the Gap" as it fitted the location and description precisely. As there were two muggles not far away, one wielding an axe, there was not time to check fully in the cache container. But we think as does DnA! (log 9/3/13) that several who log this GC cache may have actually mistaken it for the GCA one
