A Waterworks Circuit

Friday , 17 April 2015

With a nice forecast in the offing we did a circuit walk on the hills at the Waterworks.   We parked within the reserve and headed up hill eventually getting to the crest where lunch was enjoyed in the sun and then along what was now a wide track to Chimney Pot Road and back down to the car via McDermotts Saddle. It was mixed day for finding caches though with one complete failure and  another that gave a deal of frustration; but .managed to get four.

Stumped By Clueless?

Was suspicious that the obvious answer would be a trick and it was  I didn’t like the colour of the herrings. Tried another tack   but came up to a brick wall. It was then time to get some help from Barad and that was enough to break the deadlock.

Keys to Success

This proved to be a problem. After exhausting the options from the small container we discovered the actual opener after a bit of examination.  However the inner was obviously only able to be opened by a particular shaped tool and there wasn’t a lot of those and each would not oblige.   It was noticed that the end of the locking device was at an odd angle and we concluded it may be jammed. It was also noted that the 30 March log indicated that it was open.

Baby Babushka

Well we looked and looked and read Old Saint's log carefully for clues, but nothing spotted.

There was an old woman who lived in ----a cache?

We opened each Babushka  only to find the log in the last one attempted.

Stumped By Dad?

Had an inkling about how to solve the information when some information was proffered about another cache, and so when looking at this it was the first thing tried, but the answer failed the checker.  An enquiry to Barad revealed what else was needed, but still no luck until it was explained about movements in latitude.

Quite tricky unless you have a mind used to that.

Chimney Pot

This was an amusing time.  Sue located the cache site and Peter lifted it from the hiding spot. However after reading the note inside we both thought that the log book had gone missing.  It was not until looking up from this that Peter noticed what was missing.  A very novel creation.
