A Quick Sandy Bay Excursion

Friday 7 September 2012

We had an engagement in Sandy Bay and decided to grab a few caches in the area afterwards. IT was a bit showery on the drive there but the sun was out by the time the function was over. But the mountain looked to have cloud building up and eventually a few spot began to fall on us, curtailing our final cache attempt.

10x10 Vertically

We had driven past this site quite few times and, after realising our assumed location was not correct, it did not take long to find.

Mary MacKillop - Sandy Bay

We had never had been past here before and found the buildings quite imposing. The cache was in open view and we did cover it up as best we could, but needs something a bit heavier as the wind will soon blow the light bark away. It looked like recent gardening had taken place and check on Google Street View had a lot of bushes at the site, which have since gone. It may be that the environment at the site has undergone a major change since the cache was put in.

The Russians are Coming II

It didn’t take long to find this and we left Liam's Pet Blue Whale travel bug. The log book is filling up although there are some blank pages here and there.

The hint for his had us guessing what it may be like and this proved to be correct. We had seen a very similar type of cache to this before, so that helped a lot. A couple of muggles in cars were close but we are sure neither noticed much about our movements while we made a quick grab and walked to a seat out of site to open it. However when we returned the cache to its posy a neighbour was on his deck and looking right at the spot; can’t help wondering if he knew about it.
