Lauderdale End

Sunday, 13 October 2013

With predictions of afternoon showers we decided to tackle the walking track between Lauderdale and Seven Mile Beach during the morning while things looked OK. But by the time we had gone about two thirds of the way it started to rain and after sheltering from two shower spells we thought it best to head back to the car and do the rest on another day.

LYC on the beach.

The clue helped Sue grab this fairly quickly. Before we got to the spot we were looking for something large and well above head height to match the clue before realising we were thinking of a different version.

Last Line of Defence

A quick find by Sue.

The Steps

The spot we expected it to be drew a blank, but taking another angle soon came up with goods.

The End

We were on the walking track but is was clear that we should have stayed on the beach. A look down persuaded us to try for an easier approach and that turned out to be by returning after going down to get the next cache in line. Peter tried that way, while Sue waited, but it was then that the weather broke causing him to race back to give Sue her raincoat. So the cache Had to wait until we headed back on the return walk to the car.

Beautiful Beach

We had the right spot but it took a while to actually find it. Part of the hint may now be missing.

Goat Track

A quick find by Sue in the most likely spot.

Hidden Cove

The hint helped pinpoint this one.

Small Rocky Outcrop

Found quickly which was fortunate as it was threatening to rain again.

Nano in the Bush

Some track work was on the go near the cache, so we hope the rock sheltering the cache is not fancied by the track workers.

What a View

Some nearby tree cover was used to shelter from a quite wetting shower. One of the trees had water running along a small branch and then falling just like a tap. When the shower stopped we went out for the cache. This was where we decided to turn back for the car.

Tangara Trail

The hint matching feature was noticed by Sue. Peter was looking about for something larger.

Roches Beach Entrance

Well it was in the spot that we thought, but getting was not without difficulty; It had a mighty grip on home base.

Orana

Our last for the day which we approached by walking along the road from Roches Beach Entrance http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC4NNQB_roches-beach-entrance . Nice container exactly where the hint and GPS took us.
