Old Coach Road

Friday , 4 April 2014

We planned a trip staying overnight at Brockley homestead and to include the Part of the Old Coach Road that we hadn't previously walked. Brockley has been restored and offers accommodation in the historic homestead. On the way we settled on a few geocaches to do between Penna and Orford, plus a visit to the Bushland Garden near Buckland.

Sharkdog walk

Found without problem after the short walk beside the calm bay.

A Digital Digitation

Looked complicated but after consulting Google the conflict between I & P was resolved, but then during the calculation stage it was further complicated by the number 10 which would have been out of bounds. An assumption was made and when the final result was viewed in Google Earth it all looked plausible and when at GZ the road name gave more confidence. Some drivers of passing vehicles gave us curious looks. It was found at the suspected spot.

Convict Cove

It was a very pleasant latish afternoon walk to the quarry and the track is now much flasher than when we walked along it quite a few years ago.. Sue spotted the suspect and it was in hand. In the centre of the quarry were a number of seat cushions and broken furniture, which was somewhat unsightly. The Lucky Bug 649 TB was not present in the container.

Super Weeny Cache #1

Parked at Raspins Beach and walked back to the cache site, then did a circumference to work out the best approach line. This was our #800 geocache.com find.

Super Weeny Cache #2

Although disabled we decided to have a look, particularly as we stopping for a meal close by at Scorchers. Several swaps were still in the lidless container, but no log so we put in a temporary one inside a plastic bag and replaced the cement brick on top.

Old Convict Road

IMG_9515It is fairly likely that our walk to collect the cache was the longest because we started out from Brockley homestead which made the return walk 16.5k. The track is quite interesting to walk along, although there are a few short indistinct and overgrown sections. Unfortunately the owners of the property only allow guest staying at the property through because of insurance.
