Thursday , 15 November 2018 Decided to walk from South Arm through to Pot Bay, one that we had done a year ago, but since that time several geocaches have been put in, so this was an added incentive. View of the Jetty Found without too much trouble on the way back as we didn't come down this way but went on the top track first and missed it. Saturday , 9 September 2017 We did this walk in 2013 when there were a lot of caches along the track, but most are now archived.  After so many days of wet, snowy and cold weather it was nice to get outdoors in pleasant conditions. For the caches along here today. Ramble Round Roscommon Enjoyed the walk to find our cache no. 1500. watch the world sail Easily spotted from the right angle. Thursday , 3 August 2017 A walk on the mountain had been planned but the calm day and likelihood of getting lots of sunshine persuaded us to go along the Convict Trail at South Arm.  It took 2:10 for the walk from South arm to Opossum Bay collecting caches and 1:20 for the return leg; in all it was 9.5k for the day. Wednesday , 28 June 2017 Various gums near Simmons Hill, inc risdonii Went on a walk up the climb to traverse the ridge near Simmons Hill before arcing  along the opposite ridge leading back east.  It was hoped that a track would take us down to near the start in String Bark Gully, but the one found was on private property for most of the way until a house could be spotted a short distance ahead. At this point we veered away and just walked through untracked bush to the bottom. Saturday , 4 February 2017 Decided to walk from Cascade Gardens  up the steep fire tail above McRobies Gully  and returning on the Cascade Track.  It makes it about a 3 hour  walk of  7k.   On the way we would pass two newish caches. A Rocky Old Farm Road Sign We did manage to find the original one here and managed to get the replacement today.  We were fooled by part of the hint which had us both thinking it would have a particular extraction method. Reading a recent log that referred to the cache name as a hint helped make the discovery. Halfway Up Although we spent longer than we would have liked, we don’t have the perseverance of membsec and departed without reward after the stiff climb up here.

The Russians are Coming II (tribute) A lovely spring day after some pretty ordinary weather. After enjoying lunch with a friend nearby Sue decided to look for this nearby cache. After circling the safety fence she entered the complex and followed the GPS which took her to GZ. Thinking to herself that it would have been handy to have Peter along today she set upon the task herself. Clambered, pulled, signed and replaced and then off to pick up her grand daughter from school.

Monday , 7 November 2016 This walk around Dowsings Point from the Derwent Entertainment Centre ended up being our worst day of geocaching we have had. One find out of three. Divining Angle Sue said "is it under there" but Peter was a bit fed up and said "probably not" but looked anyway and there it was. The Cache With No Name We walked along the path and went down some steps, where we were confronted with a wire fence marked with no entry.  The GPS pointed to the other side of the fenced area and about 150 m within.    So we weren't too impressed  with this cache. On checking The  List after getting home it is apparent that the land vested in the defence force goes to the water line. What's the Point Somewhat frustrating when everyone else finds it easily and quickly and we can't.

Saturday , 29 October 2016 Hartz Lake Look In Here The hint got us there quickly, thanks to the accurate interpretation of it by Sue.    We replaced the log. Boys Toys and Girls Day Out Found using clues as GPS was only a general area help. Cache of Cash Nice little hiding place.  A favourite because of that. Ladies Tarn How appropriate that the cache was found by such a nice lady today. SWVIEW With so many possible hiding spots and no clue given, we were not prepared to spend much time Platypus Playground Geeveston Last time here the cache had been washed away, but with it replaced and we were passing it warranted a second visit. Sue said " let me have a look " followed by " you're as blind as a bat "

Thursday , 27 October 2016 After collecting some garden stakes for a job at Mount Field, we looked for caches in the area, firstly getting the easier ones then on discovery the closest one that was somewhat off in the bush was not far away decided to go for that as well. Once there the next was not really that greater a distance away and so headed for that as well.. Mixed Herbs We suddenly twigged on why the cache was so named whilst standing writing the log. Meehan 17 Took a while to get there from Meehan 17 Meehan 18 Headed overland and down side of gully from "Mixed Herbs" The Curse of the FTF (Tasmania) #1 Didn’t actually take long to find and the TB was not there.

Wednesday , 21 September 2016 We had reason to visit the Huon, on what started as cloudy as forecast but eventually ended up sunny and quite warm; we were overdressed for the conditions. After getting the final cache on our list at Franklin, we passed the multifaceted post office cum coffee shop where all was quiet when we stepped inside., but within a few minutes the very obliging woman running it was swamped with customers whilst she made our coffee.  But they all seemed happy to wait and chat to each other.. Tricky Landing Sue said what about that and it was. It nearly beat us as our thought was a bison tube would be hanging.  Quite clever. Franklin Caravan Looked for a while before giving up. Mary MacKillop - Geeveston Sue located this one. Platypus Playground Geeveston Others might have found this easily, but we didn’t. We went for a circuit walk, partly to check on a sensor camera in the area, and took the opportunity to get a couple of caches along the way. Epcaris virgata   a threatened species that grows in the area If You Hide It, They Will Come Sue said there it is, you probably wont be able to see it as you're colour blind. Merton, Wellington Park Post Haste Easy enough to spot so long as on the right side of the fence.

Tuesday , 28 June 2016 A Monumental Expedition We could remember getting a cache here before and discovered this was a replacement. We thought we would have a coffee at the café but it was closed on a Tuesday. Conical chronicle Noticed a track to the shore but then found this was not the ideal way at all but once a better approach pad was found it was much easier.  Left a TB. First time we have seen one of this type of container which was nice and dry inside so must seal up well. Vee to me Spotted location, but was busy looking for State Permanent Marker and didn’t check it at first. Although the cache was found the marker wasn’t. Somflin #1 Easy enough to find as was expected for this first one of the series. Somflin #2 Did not tax us too much as it did not require any calculations. Tuesday , 12 April 2016 We were making the most of a good weather forecast and  going to spend a few days bushwalking near Lake StClair and collected a few caches on the journey there and back. Shadow Lake and Mount Rufus Rufus Mt ST650 Did the circuit walk from Shadow Lake; a fabulous walk in lovely weather. Monday , 14 March 2016 ET Phone Home Peter put in a suggestion and Sue found it worked and went on to complete an arduous deciphering. We could not work out all of the hint though, but fortunately didn’t need to. Richmond Gaol geocache The hint homed us right to the spot. The Wedding Cache Muggles abounded so we just had to go calmly and we don’t think any really noticed as the ducks took precedence. Coal River Gorge Gorgeous Gorge Parked near the last house after attempting to ask some people in the previous dwelling if it was OK to go through.  They were spotted talking and so Peter walked down towards them but suddenly they were gone and it was all silence, even a yell  of "hello are you there" did not elicit reply. We have walked along some of the streets in the area but mostly on the southern side of Forest Road or north of Goulburn, so it was nice to wander the ones near this cache. We had never even noticed the lane. Our approach was i down the wrong street and the GPS pointed through a back yard. Clearly that didn’t seem correct and it wasn’t long before the precise way there was found. The cache was open and Sue took up the offer of a free lemon; thanks. A TB was left and this cache was a favourite favourite. Afterwards we continued to walk around the streets and observed some very diverse abodes.

Monday , 25 May 2015 The morning was pleasantly sunny and we opted for the Tranmere foreshore where three caches had been placed since our last visit.  Although the breeze was minimal it was enough to make us pleased to be wearing warm tops. In addition a cache in the hills was on the agenda and this involved walking past some huge modern and very formal looking houses; lots of coloured pebbles and evenly spaced plants. Sibling Reminded us of a cache that was near here once.  Took Hannah TB and left new beetle TB Pipeline The cache reminded us of a Budgietas one that existed for a time at Risdon Road Log Roll Peter didn't look high enough, but Sue made the find quickly when she arrived. Friday , 17 April 2015 With a nice forecast in the offing we did a circuit walk on the hills at the Waterworks.   We parked within the reserve and headed up hill eventually getting to the crest where lunch was enjoyed in the sun and then along what was now a wide track to Chimney Pot Road and back down to the car via McDermotts Saddle. It was mixed day for finding caches though with one complete failure and  another that gave a deal of frustration; but .managed to get four. Stumped By Clueless? Was suspicious that the obvious answer would be a trick and it was  I didn’t like the colour of the herrings. Tried another tack   but came up to a brick wall. Thursday , 5 March 2015 We had been thinking about doing the multicache on the Canopus hill for sometime and as the weather was not looking the best for a Mount Wellington walk this seemed to be a good time to do it.  The first thing that struck us was the huge noise of the highway traffic and was not until after leaving waypoint 4 before it abated.  At the next stop the land owner was very curious to know what we up to and so ensued a lengthy explanation of geocaching and GPS units; by which stage he had changed from being concerned to helpful and pointed to where we ought go for views from the top.  We met him again whilst as he said was his regular walk round the top.   The Curse of the FTF (Tasmania) #3 A quick look at this puzzle had us in the dark, so we were pleased to get it the easy way.   A Stroll or a Trek The optional  walk was well worth it and had the advantage of a walk through the pleasant bush on the summit.   And the b...

Thursday , 26 February 2015 We were going to collect our granddaughter and worked out that whilst in the area we could do a couple of caches at Taroona  that we didn’t have. The plan was for a circuit walk and although it was OK weather on leaving home, it turned a bit blustery and showery part way.  We dashed back to the car and rather than leave empty handed, after a fruitless search for cache one,  drove to spot two and as a result scored a 50% success rate for the day. Crayfish Point Well we looked and looked, read some logs and reread the hint but left without success. Turning Circle We went past here in December 2013 only to find a street party going on so continued walking.  This time it was a lot quieter and  a quick find.

Tuesday , 27 January 2015 Parked in Marieville Esplanade and walked along some of the streets of this part of Sandy Bay and battery point to Salamanca Place and back via Princes Park.  The weather forecast was fine for the morning with showers likely in the afternoon and it was spot on, with precipitation starting about 100 metres before we got to the car. By the Derwent Parked nearby and walked to Battery Point checking this on the way, but a muggle sitting near.  Still mothers and kids close on return, but had a quick look while doing up shoelaces. Geo-Anonymous This was most amusing.  Plenty of people were sitting about as we had a quick scan.
