Friday , 17 April 2015 With a nice forecast in the offing we did a circuit walk on the hills at the Waterworks.   We parked within the reserve and headed up hill eventually getting to the crest where lunch was enjoyed in the sun and then along what was now a wide track to Chimney Pot Road and back down to the car via McDermotts Saddle. It was mixed day for finding caches though with one complete failure and  another that gave a deal of frustration; but .managed to get four. Stumped By Clueless? Was suspicious that the obvious answer would be a trick and it was  I didn’t like the colour of the herrings. Tried another tack   but came up to a brick wall. It was then time to get some help from Barad and that was enough to break the deadlock. Keys to Success This proved to be a problem. Wednesday 16 January 2013 Walked up from the Waterworks along the pipeline Track and found this one, stopped for a coffee at the Wildside Café (which is now part of the pub) at Fern Tree then returned to the start for a BBQ lunch.   We had two friends with us and this was the first find that Dave had made. This was a bit of a contrast to the Pipeline Track series from Neika where we went 11k for over 20 caches  to this walk of 5.6 k for a single find.    

Tuesday 18 December 2012 We had The Anomaly this down as one to look for some time and, as we were going to a BBQ at the Waterworks, arrived early and set off for it.   The old track was easy enough to pick up but became a bit harder once the dry creek was crossed.  A log had been left to assist getting over the deeply eroded spot.  Soon after we opted to head uphill to avoid the scrub and not long after this scramble reached a rocky tor.  It was looking a bit unlikely with all the scrub surrounding it, but fortunately, and with some relief, the cache was located.    Peter suggested continuing uphill to the pipeline track as it was more open that way.  It was the soon still a bit of a climb then a contouring pad was used to reach McDermotts Saddle.  From  there it didn’t take long to get back but the excursion took about an hour for the round trip.     Here is the route we took (without the start)  

1 June 2012 For a few weeks we have been meaning to head back to the Ridgeway Park and collect a cache out on the eastern side. There was also one not far from Two Views which we ran out of time to attempt when we were here in April just gone.   The Kong Foo Sing Cache Walking to the site was quite pleasant and it was somewhere we had never walked before, although we had been on the tracks in other parts of the reserve over the years, and our resolve was to follow some of the other tracks before too long and maybe score a cache or two in the process. The container took a bit of extracting as it was a tight fit and we were surprised at the number of fortune messages that were in it. We were going to the Plants of Tasmania nursery at Ridgeway and had time to search for " Two Views ", a multicache. We assumed the first site where the clues for the final location were to be found would be beside the track, but not so and it was off in the bush a little way. The photo in the gallery was a help in confirming the spot. After entering the final coordinates we followed the GPS, but as it directed us downhill through the bush we started to get the feeling that we might have got things wrong and on a wild goose chase. However when the GPS pinged that we had arrived, there was the little cache close at hand.   Interestingly some logs mentioned scrub and prickly stuff, but we walked around any of these spots and let the GPS redirect us back onto course.
