Thursday , 15 November 2018 Decided to walk from South Arm through to Pot Bay, one that we had done a year ago, but since that time several geocaches have been put in, so this was an added incentive. View of the Jetty Found without too much trouble on the way back as we didn't come down this way but went on the top track first and missed it. Sunday , 10 June 2018 With such a nice day expected we made plans to visit Echo Sugarloaf.  As it is only a short walk  we had plenty of time to stop for a coffee at Cygnet and could include a few geocaches in the day. Echo Sugarloaf from Randalls Bay Eucalypts with track below BANJO's Beach Spotted after a short search, whilst on the way to Echo Sugarloaf.   Came here a few times when our kids were little Caching is not Dead Thought this might be like other Old Saint ones and it was, which helped us find it. Cradoc Park Sue spotted it and we also noted the holly, and vinca which can be nuisance weeds in some locations Echo Sugarloaf Cache got further away as we walked along the track, but of course that changed when the track took a turn. Saturday , 9 September 2017 We did this walk in 2013 when there were a lot of caches along the track, but most are now archived.  After so many days of wet, snowy and cold weather it was nice to get outdoors in pleasant conditions. Thursday , 3 August 2017 A walk on the mountain had been planned but the calm day and likelihood of getting lots of sunshine persuaded us to go along the Convict Trail at South Arm.  It took 2:10 for the walk from South arm to Opossum Bay collecting caches and 1:20 for the return leg; in all it was 9.5k for the day. Wednesday , 28 June 2017 Various gums near Simmons Hill, inc risdonii Went on a walk up the climb to traverse the ridge near Simmons Hill before arcing  along the opposite ridge leading back east.  It was hoped that a track would take us down to near the start in String Bark Gully, but the one found was on private property for most of the way until a house could be spotted a short distance ahead. At this point we veered away and just walked through untracked bush to the bottom. PLAYTIME A great cache design Room with a View After deciding we really did have to go well off track, it didn’t take long to find this nifty designed cache. March 2017 Whilst travelling on the South Island of New Zealand we stopped to look for a few caches when time allowed. After a day of rain followed by constant heavy falls at night we  weren't expecting to be looking for any in Abel Tasman NP, but it cleared up nicely. Then at the glacier area it likewise was great weather, but in the 22 years since we last in New Zealand they have shrunk a huge distance. After a day of delightful walking to Roby Roy valley we had a short travel day and had time to search for some caches at Wanaka and Queenstown.  Both towns are trendy and noisy, but the thing that stunned us the most was the person with what looked like a pusher for kids, but was in fact for dogs and there was one in it. Doubtful Sound was amazing as was the efficiency of the travel operator especially given the mind boggling logistics of running it.  A day on the Kepler brought us past a number of caches which was a bonus. Saturday , 4 February 2017 Decided to walk from Cascade Gardens  up the steep fire tail above McRobies Gully  and returning on the Cascade Track.  It makes it about a 3 hour  walk of  7k.   On the way we would pass two newish caches. A Rocky Old Farm Road Sign We did manage to find the original one here and managed to get the replacement today.  We were fooled by part of the hint which had us both thinking it would have a particular extraction method. Reading a recent log that referred to the cache name as a hint helped make the discovery. Halfway Up Although we spent longer than we would have liked, we don’t have the perseverance of membsec and departed without reward after the stiff climb up here.

The Russians are Coming II (tribute) A lovely spring day after some pretty ordinary weather. After enjoying lunch with a friend nearby Sue decided to look for this nearby cache. After circling the safety fence she entered the complex and followed the GPS which took her to GZ. Thinking to herself that it would have been handy to have Peter along today she set upon the task herself. Clambered, pulled, signed and replaced and then off to pick up her grand daughter from school.

Saturday , 29 October 2016 Hartz Lake Look In Here The hint got us there quickly, thanks to the accurate interpretation of it by Sue.    We replaced the log. Thursday , 27 October 2016 After collecting some garden stakes for a job at Mount Field, we looked for caches in the area, firstly getting the easier ones then on discovery the closest one that was somewhat off in the bush was not far away decided to go for that as well. Once there the next was not really that greater a distance away and so headed for that as well.. Mixed Herbs We suddenly twigged on why the cache was so named whilst standing writing the log. Meehan 17 Took a while to get there from Meehan 17 Meehan 18 Headed overland and down side of gully from "Mixed Herbs" The Curse of the FTF (Tasmania) #1 Didn’t actually take long to find and the TB was not there.

Wednesday , 21 September 2016 We had reason to visit the Huon, on what started as cloudy as forecast but eventually ended up sunny and quite warm; we were overdressed for the conditions. After getting the final cache on our list at Franklin, we passed the multifaceted post office cum coffee shop where all was quiet when we stepped inside., but within a few minutes the very obliging woman running it was swamped with customers whilst she made our coffee.  But they all seemed happy to wait and chat to each other.. Tricky Landing Sue said what about that and it was. It nearly beat us as our thought was a bison tube would be hanging.  Quite clever. Franklin Caravan Looked for a while before giving up. We went for a circuit walk, partly to check on a sensor camera in the area, and took the opportunity to get a couple of caches along the way. Epcaris virgata   a threatened species that grows in the area If You Hide It, They Will Come Sue said there it is, you probably wont be able to see it as you're colour blind. Merton, Wellington Park Post Haste Easy enough to spot so long as on the right side of the fence.

Monday , 15 August 2016 Darknstormy's Slice Of Heaven Just couldn’t open this green tube, wasn't strong enough. Uloudra Found whilst doing  the Caves circuit walk timed to finish for sunset views of Rawnsley Bluff and Chace Range. Clem Squared Corner A very nifty hide, first time that we have seen one hidden like this. Beds are burning Thought it would be in this sort of spot, but it took a few minutes to locate all the same. Rawnsley Park Station Kept looking at the main object that seemed the most likely spot and about to give up when Sue looked elsewhere. Tuesday , 28 June 2016 A Monumental Expedition We could remember getting a cache here before and discovered this was a replacement. We thought we would have a coffee at the café but it was closed on a Tuesday. Conical chronicle Noticed a track to the shore but then found this was not the ideal way at all but once a better approach pad was found it was much easier.  Left a TB. First time we have seen one of this type of container which was nice and dry inside so must seal up well. Vee to me Spotted location, but was busy looking for State Permanent Marker and didn’t check it at first. Although the cache was found the marker wasn’t. Somflin #1 Easy enough to find as was expected for this first one of the series. Somflin #2 Did not tax us too much as it did not require any calculations. long marsh Whilst on a walk to the Long Marsh Dam site we didn’t miss the opportunity, along with barad Bunch, to find the cache.  It is a most interesting spot and the bush is pleasant and had huge spreads of Hibbertia procumbens a yellow flowering plant that literally covered the ground; in fact, we have never seen it so prolific or dominant. The most direct route is Honeysuckle Road from Ross, a distance of about 44k.  The road leaves the Tooms Lake Road about 18k from Ross and is initially a low standard but not overly rough gravel road for a large part of the distance, but does become rougher over the last third of the way. The former bridge over the Macquarie River no longer exists and ends at a rock barrier just prior to the river. A track leaves the road at the bottom of a dip a few hundred metres before the barrier (at S42° 08.8216 E147° 49.5031) and this gives an easy walk to the ruins of former settlement for the construction workers. Monday , 14 March 2016 ET Phone Home Peter put in a suggestion and Sue found it worked and went on to complete an arduous deciphering. We could not work out all of the hint though, but fortunately didn’t need to. Richmond Gaol geocache The hint homed us right to the spot. Thursday , 21 January 2016 It had been several months since we had been out for a day caching and we chose South Arm as the venue. Peter thought to view the Australian geocaching site and this added a few extras to look for. With the Australian caches, for some reason the option to download the cache data to the Garmin GPS no longer works, but even when downloading the GPX file, and copying to the GPS, it doesn’t dhow as a geocache when searching.  So the only option was to record it as a waypoint. GREAT BALLS OF ??? Stopped but when we saw the rubbish, including toilet paper, we soon lost interest. Racecourse Flats Was just too hard to open, so a photo has been added in lieu of logging. Saturday , 24 October 2015 But there's not twelve ! Still a spectacular scene no matter how many times you have seen it.   Didn’t have the underpass last time we were here. London Bridge Quite spectacular. Spectacular and tragic Sue located the container, which was a type we have found a few times before. The Arch of Erosion (Victoria) Have seen some of features in the area before but not this one and it is spectacular. The Grotto (Victoria) Quite spectacular.

Friday , 4 September 2015 The idea we had was to walk up the Cascade track to make a further search for the Barad Tricky tree cache and then cut over the ridge to Marlin Road and find if there was a way down to the Birthday cache near Strickland Avenue. We discovered there wasn’t and did a circuit up to the road junctions and then down Strickland to the car outside the brewery. Tricky Tree 06 After a bit of an oblique hint from Barad and somewhat more detail from another geocacher, we had a pretty good idea what to cast our eyes upon.  It was a more elaborate construction, than expected though, that we encountered.  A favourite point deserved for this. Birthday Cache On entering the park and seeing the way out signs erected by council, we were confident that once over the nicely built bridge the track would continue down the rivulet and exit back onto Strickland Avenue.  But after a very short distance a fence and go no further sign brought us to halt.

Monday , 25 May 2015 The morning was pleasantly sunny and we opted for the Tranmere foreshore where three caches had been placed since our last visit.  Although the breeze was minimal it was enough to make us pleased to be wearing warm tops. In addition a cache in the hills was on the agenda and this involved walking past some huge modern and very formal looking houses; lots of coloured pebbles and evenly spaced plants. Sibling Reminded us of a cache that was near here once.  Took Hannah TB and left new beetle TB Pipeline The cache reminded us of a Budgietas one that existed for a time at Risdon Road Log Roll Peter didn't look high enough, but Sue made the find quickly when she arrived. Track Works Went round in a bit of a circle partly to avoid the hillocks  created on the old track. The cache was spotted but then it took a while to open because of the stiffness of the screw.
