Wednesday , 20 February 2019 Old timber getters , no big trees here any more On having attention drawn to the geocaches on the Mountain River track it was decided to attempt them and at the same time check on a weed site way up very close to the Sleeping Beauty cache. The weed species is broom and unfortunately there was quite a lot of seedling still there, plus a few now bigger ones overlooked last time. Thursday , 15 November 2018 Decided to walk from South Arm through to Pot Bay, one that we had done a year ago, but since that time several geocaches have been put in, so this was an added incentive. View of the Jetty Found without too much trouble on the way back as we didn't come down this way but went on the top track first and missed it. Saturday , 9 September 2017 We did this walk in 2013 when there were a lot of caches along the track, but most are now archived.  After so many days of wet, snowy and cold weather it was nice to get outdoors in pleasant conditions. For the caches along here today. Ramble Round Roscommon Enjoyed the walk to find our cache no. 1500. watch the world sail Easily spotted from the right angle. Frederick Henry Bay Views Nice dry spot and good views.

Monday , 10 July 2017 We had the task of looking after our grandson today and decided a walk on Glebe Hill to search for the geocaches would be one of the things we would do. It was a cool day but by good luck  it came out sunny for the duration of the walk. Glebe Hill Walk 1 We lent a GPS to our grandson and he found it after suggestion. Glebe Hill Walk 2 Not hard to find and grandson was a bit quicker working out the likely spot. Glebe Hill Walk 3 Went round in a circle before honing to the right spot Glebe Hill Walk 4 Looked about to no avail.

Thursday , 27 October 2016 After collecting some garden stakes for a job at Mount Field, we looked for caches in the area, firstly getting the easier ones then on discovery the closest one that was somewhat off in the bush was not far away decided to go for that as well. Once there the next was not really that greater a distance away and so headed for that as well.. Mixed Herbs We suddenly twigged on why the cache was so named whilst standing writing the log. Meehan 17 Took a while to get there from Meehan 17 Meehan 18 Headed overland and down side of gully from "Mixed Herbs" The Curse of the FTF (Tasmania) #1 Didn’t actually take long to find and the TB was not there.

We went for a circuit walk, partly to check on a sensor camera in the area, and took the opportunity to get a couple of caches along the way. Epcaris virgata   a threatened species that grows in the area If You Hide It, They Will Come Sue said there it is, you probably wont be able to see it as you're colour blind. Merton, Wellington Park Post Haste Easy enough to spot so long as on the right side of the fence.

Monday , 15 August 2016 Darknstormy's Slice Of Heaven Just couldn’t open this green tube, wasn't strong enough. Uloudra Found whilst doing  the Caves circuit walk timed to finish for sunset views of Rawnsley Bluff and Chace Range. Clem Squared Corner A very nifty hide, first time that we have seen one hidden like this. Beds are burning Thought it would be in this sort of spot, but it took a few minutes to locate all the same. Rawnsley Park Station Kept looking at the main object that seemed the most likely spot and about to give up when Sue looked elsewhere. Sunday , 17 July 2016 It was a nice sunny and calm winter day and a good opportunity for a stroll at Waverley Flora Park.  We suddenly remembered there were some new geocaches there since our last visit, so a quick scan and a download to the GPS's and we were off. Discovered a new track whilst there as well. 12 You CAN Find this (Ver. 2.0), Waverley Walk Took a very steep climb off a lower track circling well down from the top and never met a soul during the walk until arriving at the cache site.  Two people walking with dogs suddenly appeared coming from both directions.  Again a very nifty cache design. 3 Lynched byson, Waverley Walk Didn't find at the first couple of spots but eventually got there. Xtra cache , Waverley Walk Bonus Walked on the new track before discovering we would have to go cross country 30 metres.  Whata nice design for a geocache container. Tuesday , 28 June 2016 A Monumental Expedition We could remember getting a cache here before and discovered this was a replacement. We thought we would have a coffee at the café but it was closed on a Tuesday. Conical chronicle Noticed a track to the shore but then found this was not the ideal way at all but once a better approach pad was found it was much easier.  Left a TB. First time we have seen one of this type of container which was nice and dry inside so must seal up well. Vee to me Spotted location, but was busy looking for State Permanent Marker and didn’t check it at first. Although the cache was found the marker wasn’t. Somflin #1 Easy enough to find as was expected for this first one of the series. Somflin #2 Did not tax us too much as it did not require any calculations. Tuesday , 12 April 2016 We were making the most of a good weather forecast and  going to spend a few days bushwalking near Lake StClair and collected a few caches on the journey there and back. long marsh Whilst on a walk to the Long Marsh Dam site we didn’t miss the opportunity, along with barad Bunch, to find the cache.  It is a most interesting spot and the bush is pleasant and had huge spreads of Hibbertia procumbens a yellow flowering plant that literally covered the ground; in fact, we have never seen it so prolific or dominant. The most direct route is Honeysuckle Road from Ross, a distance of about 44k.  The road leaves the Tooms Lake Road about 18k from Ross and is initially a low standard but not overly rough gravel road for a large part of the distance, but does become rougher over the last third of the way. The former bridge over the Macquarie River no longer exists and ends at a rock barrier just prior to the river. A track leaves the road at the bottom of a dip a few hundred metres before the barrier (at S42° 08.8216 E147° 49.5031) and this gives an easy walk to the ruins of former settlement for the construction workers. Monday , 14 March 2016 ET Phone Home Peter put in a suggestion and Sue found it worked and went on to complete an arduous deciphering. We could not work out all of the hint though, but fortunately didn’t need to. Richmond Gaol geocache The hint homed us right to the spot. The Wedding Cache Muggles abounded so we just had to go calmly and we don’t think any really noticed as the ducks took precedence. Thursday , 21 January 2016 It had been several months since we had been out for a day caching and we chose South Arm as the venue. Peter thought to view the Australian geocaching site and this added a few extras to look for. With the Australian caches, for some reason the option to download the cache data to the Garmin GPS no longer works, but even when downloading the GPX file, and copying to the GPS, it doesn’t dhow as a geocache when searching.  So the only option was to record it as a waypoint. GREAT BALLS OF ??? Stopped but when we saw the rubbish, including toilet paper, we soon lost interest. Racecourse Flats Was just too hard to open, so a photo has been added in lieu of logging. Friday , 4 September 2015 The idea we had was to walk up the Cascade track to make a further search for the Barad Tricky tree cache and then cut over the ridge to Marlin Road and find if there was a way down to the Birthday cache near Strickland Avenue. We discovered there wasn’t and did a circuit up to the road junctions and then down Strickland to the car outside the brewery. Tricky Tree 06 After a bit of an oblique hint from Barad and somewhat more detail from another geocacher, we had a pretty good idea what to cast our eyes upon.  It was a more elaborate construction, than expected though, that we encountered.  A favourite point deserved for this. Birthday Cache On entering the park and seeing the way out signs erected by council, we were confident that once over the nicely built bridge the track would continue down the rivulet and exit back onto Strickland Avenue.  But after a very short distance a fence and go no further sign brought us to halt.

We have walked along some of the streets in the area but mostly on the southern side of Forest Road or north of Goulburn, so it was nice to wander the ones near this cache. We had never even noticed the lane. Our approach was i down the wrong street and the GPS pointed through a back yard. Clearly that didn’t seem correct and it wasn’t long before the precise way there was found. The cache was open and Sue took up the offer of a free lemon; thanks. A TB was left and this cache was a favourite favourite. Afterwards we continued to walk around the streets and observed some very diverse abodes.

Monday , 25 May 2015 The morning was pleasantly sunny and we opted for the Tranmere foreshore where three caches had been placed since our last visit.  Although the breeze was minimal it was enough to make us pleased to be wearing warm tops. In addition a cache in the hills was on the agenda and this involved walking past some huge modern and very formal looking houses; lots of coloured pebbles and evenly spaced plants. Friday , 17 April 2015 With a nice forecast in the offing we did a circuit walk on the hills at the Waterworks.   We parked within the reserve and headed up hill eventually getting to the crest where lunch was enjoyed in the sun and then along what was now a wide track to Chimney Pot Road and back down to the car via McDermotts Saddle. It was mixed day for finding caches though with one complete failure and  another that gave a deal of frustration; but .managed to get four. Stumped By Clueless? Was suspicious that the obvious answer would be a trick and it was  I didn’t like the colour of the herrings. Tried another tack   but came up to a brick wall. Thursday , 5 March 2015 We had been thinking about doing the multicache on the Canopus hill for sometime and as the weather was not looking the best for a Mount Wellington walk this seemed to be a good time to do it.  The first thing that struck us was the huge noise of the highway traffic and was not until after leaving waypoint 4 before it abated.  At the next stop the land owner was very curious to know what we up to and so ensued a lengthy explanation of geocaching and GPS units; by which stage he had changed from being concerned to helpful and pointed to where we ought go for views from the top.  We met him again whilst as he said was his regular walk round the top.   The Curse of the FTF (Tasmania) #3 A quick look at this puzzle had us in the dark, so we were pleased to get it the easy way.   A Stroll or a Trek The optional  walk was well worth it and had the advantage of a walk through the pleasant bush on the summit.   And the b...

Thursday , 26 February 2015 We were going to collect our granddaughter and worked out that whilst in the area we could do a couple of caches at Taroona  that we didn’t have. The plan was for a circuit walk and although it was OK weather on leaving home, it turned a bit blustery and showery part way.  We dashed back to the car and rather than leave empty handed, after a fruitless search for cache one,  drove to spot two and as a result scored a 50% success rate for the day. Crayfish Point Well we looked and looked, read some logs and reread the hint but left without success. Turning Circle We went past here in December 2013 only to find a street party going on so continued walking.  This time it was a lot quieter and  a quick find.

Tuesday , 27 January 2015 Parked in Marieville Esplanade and walked along some of the streets of this part of Sandy Bay and battery point to Salamanca Place and back via Princes Park.  The weather forecast was fine for the morning with showers likely in the afternoon and it was spot on, with precipitation starting about 100 metres before we got to the car. By the Derwent Parked nearby and walked to Battery Point checking this on the way, but a muggle sitting near.  Still mothers and kids close on return, but had a quick look while doing up shoelaces.
